Exercise bands were all the rage in the 60s, especially with women, as it was a lower impact workout. We now know (and probably did at the time) that they don’t do much actual exercising. The user does not burn enough calories to make an impact. The band just jiggles you around and you have fun. From what I can tell, there is no actual name for them. People just refer to it as “that crazy fad”.

Our example is a little worse for wear, but it is in one piece. Is far as I can tell, there was supposed to be some cover on the bottom frame to stand on. The large belt would go around the user’s body. The pin where the belt attaches is on a plastic wheel that is offset, creating the jiggling.

Inside, it is very simple. Just a motor and a belt. There is a fan on the right to cool the motor.
